Signature Skewers are already proving popular with our guests who enthusiastically spread the word about the great new show in the Pinnacle Grill,” says Jafar Al-Shibibi, Holland America Line Corporate Manager, Guest and Dining Services.

The 10-piece Flaming Skewers ensemble gives fine dining guests an exciting and elegant new kind of food presentation. After the entrées have been grilled, baked or flame roasted, the stainless skewers are artfully displayed in the ensemble cradle forming a pinnacle or pyramid effect. Optional drip screen insert sits over cradle and hides juices which may fall to the tray during flambéing. An elegant, 17-inch high, conical-shaped cloche (food cover) covers the cradle and skewers. The skewer ensemble sits on an 18.5-inch diameter, silverplate serving tray. Skewer handles are detached before cooking. The “quick-grip [skewer tongs] are used to secure the hot skewer rods, and with a few twists, handles are re-attached easily and quickly. Tongs separate for complete cleaning.

The cloche performs two important functions: first, it keeps the skewered entrées hot; second, the cloche conceals the entrée. When the cover is removed at the table, it is a grand presentation, and the flambéing is quite dramatic. With the ensemble sitting on a cart next to the diner’s table, guests view the beautiful blue flames rising above the skewers. After flambéing, waiter/waitress removes skewer from cradle and slides entrée onto dinner plate. It is exciting and personalized, and the flaming cognac/vodka adds an exquisite flavor to every entrée.

The Flaming Skewers Ensemble is made of FDA-approved metals and has been engineered to be lightweight. The cloche is bright nickel-plated spun aluminum, and the cradle is mirror-polished cast aluminum. The skewers are precision-machined, food-grade stainless steel. The entire unit weighs only 11.4 lbs. fully loaded and serves up to 5 individual skewer entrées. “The opportunity to add my design talents to the finest dining venues in the world is truly a privilege, and Holland America is a fabulous and gracious company to work with. I look forward to working with the world’s finest chefs and restaurants,” says David Magiera. Magiera is an artist, entrepreneur and product inventor with a gift for artistic innovation. He is the president and founder of Fireskewers LLC and the designer of the Flaming Skewers Ensemble. He is also a home designer/builder, songwriter, game inventor, sculptor and a multiple patent holder since 1977.

Holland America Pinnacle Grill menus now carry five (5) new entrees under the heading PINNACLE SIGNATURE SKEWERS: Beef Delight – beef tenderloin marinated with parsley, onion, thyme, rosemary and marjoram; Tantalizing Lamb – lamb loins marinated with herbs, garlic, cumin, honey, coriander and red chilies, served with yogurt sauce; Chicken and Turkey Temptation – with onion confit and tomato coulis; Delectable Seafood – shrimps, swordfish and tuna, seasoned with lemon, paprika, garlic, mustard, and cayenne and dill; Vegetarian Zen – array of mixed vegetables seasoned with herbs de provence. The menu possibilities, of course, are endless.

Copyright 2009-2010 FireSkewers LLC. FireSkewers and Flaming Skewers are service marks of D. Magiera and FireSkewers LLC. And I'm going to do something about with these awesome BBQ skewers.

To celebrate the launch of FireSkewers.net, we will be building a special page on the FireSkewers site called THE RECIPE GALLERY. This will be a place where we all can publish our great and extravagant kebab recipes. I know I will.

There will be a photo of the kebab, a spot for the recipe and roasting instructions and a neat spot for the authors name with his/her city and state. I love to create stuff -- and I really love and appreciate the chefs of the world. So I'm going to get a little piece of the action at FireSkewers. I invite you to join me. Everyone with a skewer recipe is invited to email me your recipe and photo. If it's wild, savory, extraordinary, outrageous or just plain delicious, I'll put your skewer photo in the gallery with your name. In fact, even if you haven't got a picture, send me your recipe. Can't wait to see what wild and wonderful food ideas will come in and get published on the site. - D.
